T-DAR® Product Overview |
Newton manufactures two types of T-DAR systems:
- For doors-used for any type of door-swinging, sliding, folding, single or double doors
- For mantraps composed of a vestibule with one or more entrance doors and one or more exit doors
The primary difference between the two is that the door system only detects and alarms on tailgating (no capability to stop the violator) while the mantrap systems only allow one person at a time in a vestibule and thus prevent tailgating. There are a wide variety of software options that allow for other customer or application required conditions.
Integration Scope
The T-DAR system is specifically designed as a stand alone system with easy integration to access control systems, requiring only a single digital signal, typically a dry contact, from access control system to tell the T-DAR system that the person is authorized. The T-DAR outputs are also simply dry contacts, with up to 6 outputs (dry contacts) for alarms and warnings. Typically only two are used: one to the access control system for alarm and one to the DVR/NVR system to mark the event. The annunicator/light/voice local alarm system is directly controlled by and wired to the T-DAR system with a standard CAT5 connector and cable. In addition, the T-DAR system accepts various optional inputs from the access control system or other devices for by-passes, over-rides, special configurations etc.; all of these various options are simply configured via the User Interface.
Value
T-DAR systems reliably detect and prevent “tailgating” and “piggybacking” through secure doors which significantly increases the effectiveness of an access control system. Our patented 3-dimensional machine vision system is much more effective than competitive technologies currently available such as video analytics, break-beam systems, pressure mats, etc. In many instances, T-DAR systems have been used to automate the tedious and often manpower-intensive problem of stopping “tailgating’ and “piggybacking” at secure facilities.
Internationalization
The T-DAR system is currently sold using English as the major language for both the User Interface and the documentation; it is also available in the Japanese language. Other languages are available as options with additional cost.
The annunciator (voice warning system) is often required in different languages; even to the extent of different accents for different countries. The voice system is easily field programmable in any desired language or accent and is quite frequently supplied with various voices for different countries.
Means of testing and deployment
The T-DAR system underwent more than one year of beta and quality assurance testing prior to its introduction. The system has been deployed for more than six years in many different security environments. The T-DAR system is UL and CE certified and has met or exceeded the QC requirements of the various US and other governmental bodies who have deployed the system.
Patented
(US Patent No. 7,382,895). This patent covers all usage of stereo 3D vision for the security industry allowing the detection and classification (authorized or unauthorized) of persons transiting an area. Thus it covers alarming for tailgating, prevention of tailgating by the use of a vestibule and an inlet and outlet door (commonly know as man-traps), security revolving doors, Automatic Immigration Gates deployed world wide and any other usage of stereo 3D vision for single person detection.
